DotNetNuke a free content management system

By

Many people think that it can be a challenge to start up a website. However, it really depends on how complicated you want to get. There are very few "out of the box" solutions that will allow you to be as simplistic as one or two page sites or multi-page shopping cart, e-commerce sites. DotNetNuke can fit those needs.

DotNetNuke is a free to download and use tool that you can put up a website with. It is a content management system that can be setup to become a fully featured website, e-commerce, or blog site depending on your needs. Is relatively easy to install if you have basic website skills. It allows you to edit each and every page of your site to put up pictures and content. If you can use Microsoft Word then you can easily use and edit content with DotNetNuke.

It comes in two versions the free open source edition and the Professional version which provides you with business level support. The professional version has a few different features that are not included in the free version however the free version contains the most useful features.

One of the best features about DotNetNuke is that you can expand upon it. Every component in DotNetNuke comes in the form of a module with a basic set of functions. For example if you need a text box on your page. You simply add the module and it will give you a rich text editing environment just like microsoft word. If you are a .Net programmer then you will enjoy the ease of creating your own Modules. Since it is open source technology you can make your own modules and then resell them.

If you're a web developer and program websites then you will find it easy to program modules for this product. However if you're not a developer then there are a number of websites that can assist you in finding a module to suit your needs from free to pay modules. A great website to find "skins" or templates for the site as well as a number of modules is www.snowcovered.com
